Why did you choose this particular song for your cover? Did you know the history of the song before you started working on the cover?
DEFY is by far the best song by them, and that’s the sole reason. Our label came up with this idea of a BC cover album. At first we were a bit hesitant cause we’ve been really busy with our 2nd full length. After a while we decided to give it a shot, booked the studio and recorded it. We’re happy that we did, cause the feedback has been really great, and the guys from BC loved it too. And yeah, we think we know the history. After all, we were on a same label for over four years.
Did you have any difficulties working on this song? What feelings of your own did you put into the cover? Did Blind Channel help with working on this cover?
Actually, no. The vision was really clear straight from the get go. We always approach covers in a way that if this would be our song, how it would sound. We think there’s no point in covering a song by making a carbon copy of the original. For instance, we decided to go with crystal clear falsetto vocals in chorus instead of growls, it’s a complete opposite but at the same time it has the same feeling of despair, just in different way. We also added this completely new ”drop” after the 2nd and 3rd chorus to give it this almost kind of ”cinematic” feel. We didn’t get any help. We work 95% of time just by ourselves anyway.
What are your plans for the near future? When are you planning to release your own new music?
New album will be out this year. The next single is ready, hope to release it sooner than later! We hope to come out with news on European shows as well, but that’s still in the making.
