YleX praised “Shut Down With Me,” calling it the kind of song where you could never tell it was released by newcomers rather than a band that had been working on it for a long time, honing their craft. Ember Falls were even compared to their Swedish melodic metal peers, Amaranthe.
Ember Falls signed their first record deal with Spinefarm Records. In early 2017, they released their debut album, Welcome to Ember Falls, which Tuonela Magazine rated a perfect ten out of ten. However, the partnership with Spinefarm Records did not last long, and in 2019, Ember Falls moved under the wing of the prominent label Ranka Kustannus.
While working on their sophomore record, Ember Falls chose to explore the theme of a near-future digital dimension where humanity is virtually reduced to a digital-only existence. These reflections were captured in the band's second full-length album, titled Ruins, which was released at the end of 2021.
In addition to working on their own music, Ember Falls participated in a project by Ranka Kustannus, joining other bands to record covers. In total, Ember Falls covered three tracks: “Over My Dead Body” by their former labelmates Blind Channel, “Avalanche” by the famous Bring Me The Horizon, and “Cloud Connected” by the Swedish melodic death metal titans In Flames. These tracks were compiled into the Experiments EP, released in June 2022. This EP has remained the band's final release to date.
