Discovery of the Week: Eramaa
Finnish folk metal newcomers worth your attention
Eramaa emerged in 2018 and immediately stood out for their original approach to their craft. Even back then, their music blended elements of folk and heavy metal, enhanced by the multi-layered harmonies of three female vocalists: Laura Lehto, Satu Varto, and Sanna West.
Just a year later, Eramaa released their debut EP, Breathe, where they experimented not only with their sound but also with mixing English and Finnish lyrics.
The release was well-received by music critics, and the band began working on their debut album.

Following the release of two singles, in late January 2022, Eramaa unveiled their debut full-length creation to the world, titled Pohjan Nainen.
According to the band members, the theme of the album is a mental breakdown and surviving its aftermath. They weave this theme through every track on the record, harmoniously blending folk with a modern sound. Currently, the band is working on new material.
