Discovery of the Week: SaraLee
2000s vibes and dark romance: remembering SaraLee
The band, originally named Restless, was formed in 2000 by musicians from Jyväskylä who based their style on a dark and melancholic sound.

Despite a series of atmospheric live shows and the demos Black And Hollow and When Little Things Die, they initially struggled to break into the forefront of the Finnish scene. However, their third release, Evil In Us, helped SaraLee move forward.

In the summer of 2004, the band released their demos as a compilation titled Demo(n)s, which sold nearly a thousand copies in less than a year, giving a solid boost to the members' motivation.

In 2006, the musicians presented their debut album, Darkness Between, and just a couple of years later, they released their second full-length record, titled Damnation To Salvation.

Unfortunately, this album became the last in the band's discography, and SaraLee's musical career began to decline. By 2012, the former lead vocalist of SaraLee had founded a new band called Black Crows Break the Silence, later shifting his focus to a solo career.

Although SaraLee never achieved major mainstream success in Finland, they still managed to leave their mark on the music world, leaving behind melancholic songs that bring back a sense of 2000s nostalgia.
