Discovery of the Week: Suburban Tribe
Echoes of the Finnish alternative rock scene
Suburban Tribe is a Finnish alternative rock/metal band founded in 1994. The team is notable for featuring members from two of Finland's most famous thrash metal bands: bassist Janne Joutsenniemi played in Stone, and guitarist Roope Siren was in Airdash.

The band was originally named SubUrban Tribe, but after a short hiatus in 2001, which was preceded by a change of vocalist, the name was changed to the current one. The band gained widespread recognition thanks to the reality show Big Brother. Their song “While the World Waits” served as the theme song for the 2006 season. In March 2011, it was announced that the band had decided to break up.

However, last year the musicians posted their first update in a long time, accompanied by the following message to fans from vocalist Ville Tuomi: “It may sound cliché, but honestly, it feels like the time for a comeback is right now. Everything seems to have fallen into place naturally, and besides, our debut album will soon turn thirty. Next summer's gigs are going to be crazy, I can already feel it with all my heart.”

At the moment, the band continues to tour actively, but there is still no news regarding any new material.
